Freak Accident--Need Advice

I'm hurting!! On my way home from work, looking forward to a three day weekend, a chance to get pictures to post of my Fit. Just as I'm exiting the interstate, I hit some dark/hard/metallic? object , burst the right front tire, and deeply gash the wheel!! Only 879 miles on the car!! The good thing is that I DID MISS hitting a 4 ft piece of rebar!!! Now, I'm trying to figure out will this fall under warranty/will this be an insurance claim/what's next?! An advice you can offer based on your past experiences would be appreciated! Thanx!! I guess I'll go and stow the jack and put the tire/wheel into the garage for now.

Geez, sorry to hear about that man. Was it something that feel off a truck? Were you just not paying attention and ran over something? The more details the better. If it was something that fell off a truck then you could have had the police involved and you would be covered, but from what im guessing it seems like you might be on your own :-(

is it just a tire blow? was there body damage or you just need the tire to be replaced?

Just came back in from examining things. Fortunately, there appears to be no body damage (YAY!!), but the tire has a 2" inch hole in the sidewall, right at the wheel lip. The wheel has a 1.5" long x .5" deep gash in the lip.

Sorry to hear about your damage to a new car. Your warranty won't cover road hazards, but your comprehensive insurance almost certainly will cover the damages, less your deductible (which will probably be more than the cost of a new rim).

I was just checking parts via South Bay Honda, hondapartscheap.com and found that they list 2 15" wheels, one is an Enkei @ $220.74, and the other is a Kosei @ $280.10, the stock tire is $101.47, so depending upon which wheel is what I need, I'm looking at just about $500, which is my deductible!

So unfortunately, the new parts get paid for out of your wallet and not by your insurance. Again, I'm very sorry to hear about your accident. If there HAD been body damage, the comprehensive insurance would have covered that. Sounds like you came out pretty lucky, just a little ($500.) poorer.

Somebody here (or was it ebay?) had a whole set of wheels (OEM sport) and tires for like $350. Looked like nearly brand new take offs, cuz they put custom wheels and tires on.
