question for motorcycle riders
i've always noticed how bikers (on any kinda bike) rev their engines a lot. they do it while they're slowing down to stop, or just passing a car, or just waiting for a red light to turn green. is there a reason you do this? i have a slight recollection that older bikes might have needed the rider to rev it to keep the engine running, but i might have just made that up subconsciously too. or do you rev just for fun?
That and i know in some places it would help with being able to be spotted, because if they can't see you hopefully they can hear you.
But i know when my dad rides he rev's it when he shifts and stuff, kinda like he is double clutching, it is the closest thing i can think of to relate to a car.

Some of it is a "look at me, im cool complex", but for the most part, it is also from a safety perspective as since you can't see them as easily as cars, they are hoping you can hear them so you dont smack into them by accident.
Well i race motocross(dirt bikes)and i do it alot just because it sounds good!
But i also do it in the air when my nose is coming down to level out the bike, so it is usefull for dirt bikers lol.

Its very usefull so you dont fall, while doing that^!

wow that's pretty cool i was always curious if that's how motox riders did it. i'm probably never gonna do that in my life. i had a friend who's older brother rode dirt bikes and one time the rear wheel spokes sliced into the heel of his foot it was really disgusting i saw pictures of it. he had to go to the ER, it was like a huge gash that turned his heel into something like a hanging flap.

A few months ago, my best friend and i were at a race..While we were praticing my friend fell coming down from a 30 foot jump and broke his hip in half and also broke is wrist..He was life flighted to the hospital where he spent 11 days in and out of sergury..it really sucked..Thankfully he made a full recovery and is riding again
