thanks for the info! I was actually looking at bundles for the d60 that run in the $800 range. It does come with the 18-55 lense and i think a 70-200? lense. a couple of filters, bunch of memory, cases, tripod. but the best of all is the factory warranty and it's not refurb'd, but new. not that refurbs are bad.

The 70-200 is about twice the cost of that, I think you meant the 55-200

I personally wouldn't care for all the generic stuff they give you. I would think the quality on the items they include is not very good either. If you want just the d60kit and the 55-200, it's only $809 at buydig.com which comes with a free 4gb sandisk card(I buy most of my equipment from them) or $790.4 with the 5% trick at amazon.com

Besides the kit, you should also pick up some filters for your lenses, and if your budget fits, an external flash(makes a big difference) and/or a quality tripod if you want to try out night photography.

Another personal opinion is to just save your money for pro glass. The only exception for me is the 50mm 1.8, which is quite the bang for the buck and helps to get you started into photography. If you don't have the dough for the pro lenses like me, you can rent and try them out to see the amazing difference. I just rented a 17-55 from borrowlenses.com awhile ago, and it was a MAJOR difference to the 18-55 that came with my d40.

-Log into your account first.

-Repeat the following until the d60 shows in your recommendations.

-Find the d60 on amazon and click on one of the related products. (DO NOT RATE THE D60 OR IT WILL NOT WORK)
-Go down and click "I own it" and rate it.
-Go to your recommendations and the d60 should be there.
-Check off the items you aren't interested in so only the d60 remains.
-Check the next day at your quick picks and it should the d60 should show up with 5% off the listed price.

Not 100% guaranteed to work, but I've had success on many items. Probably saved a few hundred dollars doing it. Hope this helps!
