I think this thread is a bad idea.

There are apps that can use a photo of a key to make a duplicate of that key. Now, anyone who makes such a copy based on photos posted here would also have to find out where you live, but I'm not one to tempt fate.

well, except for the alarm going off when the embedded micro-chip doesnt recognize your home-cut car-key...

otoh, i would not have seen this thread had you not posted - and it IS kinda fun to share stuff...

as anyone who is on facebook realizes - full privacy is gone; welcome to the global-village... also, the vast majority of actual people who could/would want to see this post will not care/mind... big-data probably already knows everything they want-to-know about you... and criminals can get you no matter how perfect you believe your security to be... if i had my keys near me and wanted to bother uploading a photo/linking-it i think it would be neato to share my glow-in-the-dark key-cover for my fit-key...

As a locksmith let me tell you all that's NOT a good idea. I can cut keys by sight and I'm not the only one.
