I used to race xc mountain bikes back in the day. Still have my race bike in the garage, though it hasn't seen the light of day in probably a decade. Everytime I keep telling myself to dust it off and put it back into riding shape, something comes up.

SUPER comfy. the risers, not so much. after 33 miles today, my wrists were KILLING me. oh well. its something different, and yeah, i used to have bullhorns on the bike, as well as road drops. drops + hoods are where its at. **** anything else. especially drops without hoods. risers is probably the most in efficient setup.

btw, fuji track = motobecane messenger = windsor the hour

Sorry, no awesome old school action for me.

2008 Gary Fisher Utopia. I would say I'm a strong rider, finished a 100k bike ride in very contoured Alaska in under 4 hours. Also in the summer I rode my bike to and from work almost every day, 18 miles in 20 miles out. I picked a different route home because traffic at 0430 is quite different than traffic at 1700.

I also do alot of trail riding. There are hundreds of miles of trail in Anchorage alone, ranging from blacktop to rutted muddy gnarlyness. Anchorage is HUGE into bicycles.

And some crappy camera phone pics of yesterdays adventure... being an atheist on Easter leaves you bored and by yourself since everyone else is with family and what not. It was a bit chilly, mid 40's, sunny but kinda windy. I decided to go for a ride at my favorite local forest preserve, it was empty cause of the holiday so it was nice.

I did 2 laps around the 5.5 mile loop, all unpaved, some single track, some dirt path, some gravel.

After the 2 laps I started on a 3rd and took it to a small gap in the trees leading to an unmarked trail, it was a lot more fun. I know it nothing extreme or special but whatever, it was a good time.

ride down the hill with roots stick out all over the place and then use the table to hop over the creek

there's some pretty steep inclines filled with exposed roots

ride along the edge of the creek, a few small trees here and there, don't mess up or your going over the edge into the water

There were some other cool parts I didn't stop to take pictures of cause I didn't want to stop my momentum, a board to cross the creek, you have to ride through the creek in a spot, there's it a makeshift branch bridge at one point. Eventually I'll bring with my SLR and get some decent pics.

Nice thread!

All of my bikes are "retro" but none of them were "retro" when I first got them. I don't have pics handy but will post some up soon.

Cinelli Super Corsa is my 'pretty' bike, decked out in Campy SR. My 'daily driver' is a Vitus 979 with a mix of components including some oh-so rare Campy mountain bike bits. Then I have an ancient Ross Mt. Hood as a mountain bike, it's so old that it has motorcycle brake levers - there weren't any rugged brake levers of that style at the time! Then there's the Bianchi Volpe, which has fenders and mondo fat slicks and all that sort of commuter foo. It's a lot of fun. Then there's the tandem, and my wife's collection....

I need a fixie/single speed bike. I've been looking at Surly, does anyone have one?
