What happened to this forum?

When I first joined this forum, it was, I may be understating my feelings a little... but it was FUCKING AWESOME!!!

It had all kinds of DIY, Lyon's DIY SRI intake and then his turbo, for example. And while some things I would never do (cause I'm chicken shit), it was great to learn about.

Now, we get threads from people showing their prejudice (and nothing more)... people acting like some GURU about how things should be done (*not so subtle way*: ie The real... etc).

And I'll be honest... some of these recent mods people are so excited about... are rather blah. Come on, I barely do jack to my car, are some of these mods REALLY that big a deal?

What happened to educational discussions about intake, exhaust, suspension, etc? Why am I being subjected to the rash of newbies acting like big shots?

You know what it makes me feeling like doing?

.

.

Getting myself banned.

By the time you joined the site had been going downhill for a while. Go back to about June of 2008 for coolest FitFreak days.

I'm down for some educational suspension talk.

IMO internet forums in general have been going downhill for a long while. Blogs and forums died in 08. All the best experiences are had in-person, and I think (hope) people are realizing that.

That should be required reading for people purchasing coilovers.

"Going to track? Set it to full stiff" is not the answer

Alot of the cool guys left, the cool members that are left just dont post as much anymore. So we are left with noobs that want to know the same questions that have been answered a million times and can be learned with a little searching.

its the economic times man... people are spending less and being alot more conservative with style and spending... also many people here come from crazy backgrounds already with Boost and crazy mods done on previous cars.. so many of us are in debate on if we should mod our fits or not.. me personally.. i already went thru the crazy coilovers and rims and boost.. and scraping the inter-cooler at every fast food drive thru i pull into.. and iam kind of sick of it.

when i came here i felt like it was going down hill already...and I was hoping it was going up-hill because the GE8 just came out.. and i was hoping there was going to be alot of owners with crazy mods already.

i think as it gets warmer tho i will get attacked by the modding bug again.. but its so hard finding rims our cars... 4 bolt pattern in 17's... and then this TMPS thing is annoying as hell because I am even sure which rims will work witht he stock TMPS.. and because of that the TMPS i kinda wanna wait until all of my tires are bald.

Since the ecu cant be cracked, there is no good bolt ons, cams, intakes, and good exhausts. Yes you can add a turbo but you need all of those add ons too. You also cant swap parts like you could of the Honda motors in the past. There was a lot of HOPE when this motor first came out but it died just as quick when people realized the above.

Man you GE guys have it easy you just don't realize it. PM me when you're ready to buy some 17" 4x100 wheels and you'd be amazed at the radness I can find.

When the Nissan GTR came out all the reports where this car could NOT be moddifed its as great as it will ever be. That is so far from the truth, there are plenty of GTRs now that are making 600+ AWHP.

The thing is the Fit just doesn't have the following or support for company's to put alot of money into R&D so they release simple bolt ons because that is what most Fit owners will do.

Wile i think every forum levels off, the fact that you can't really do many internals mods to the l15 and it requires a swap makes it more of a challenge. And there isn't much motivation for an aftermarket company to go crazy on cars that have faily low volume. I enjoy mine and that's all that matters.

every thread thrown up, you get scumbags who just yell at everyone for not searching

doesn't really help the community, it discourages conversations and interaction

just my opinion

Seeing a n00b posting the same question without end will enrage the veteran members who actually know wtf they're talking about to the point of extinction so the only people left are those without a clue as to what they're talking about.

Thus we're left with a site of people spewing nonsense.

Agreed... However it does take a lot of patience to search around here. The search engine could use some improvement.

Well MNfit I think answered your question. Also seems like many posts as of late are coming from not just "my Fit" standpoint but "my 1st car ever"-type questions.

Then there's the "you're definitely wrong if you're not with me" type posters and the bantering starts... with no end in sight. Just my take.

I think it's the nature of the freakworld. When I first signed on I quickly realized it's an unruly board but one with many good members with sound ideas and solid knowledge.

I've been able to learn a whole lot about my FIT by gleaning that knowledge base and try to offer that up.

The only real issue I have lately is when folks come on and post innocent questions looking for feedback and the topic becomes the basis for needless debate as opposed to thoughtful advise.

But then again, out of those debates knowledge can be had.

But hey - it's the freakworld_

x2

I haven't been here long, but I really like the people I've met here. Subie, when I was just starting off on the forum, sent me a message via PM. He was very nice and welcomed me to the forums. Great example of a nice person. Unfortunately, there will always be a bad egg here or there. It's the nature of forums.

I try to ignore those folks and concentrate on the people who make a difference. Many of them are in this thread!

This is one of the most ignorant statements I've read on here in a while. That is no mean feat, considering whats been popping up lately

What do you want as far as internals?

I can get you K1 conrods with ARP2000 rod bolts for $390 + shipping for the L15A1 or the A7. Want pistons? I got a guy for that too. Need springs? Guess what? You have options.

I wouldn't go to a K personally unless I was aiming for mid-high 9's in the 1320 or more than 550fwhp.

And phuccer, really.. searching should be what you do before posting inane threads about topics that have beat to death, brought back as zombies and shot again.

There are over 6 years and 1 million posts worth of information here. This is not even the only forum you can peruse.

There is something to be said for conversation and interaction, and that should be encouraged. But mindless redundancy and encouraging people to post instead of searching is a real step backwards, and the more that happens the more difficult it is to search what is already here.

So you are actually part of the problem if that is truly your stance.

Agreed, but I still spend about half an hour everytime I login using the search feature if I am curious about something.

Far more often than not I find what I was looking for just by being patient and persistent.
