s2k gears: 1 2 3 4 5 8 R

Look at the 2nd to the last pic. Where gear 6 should be, it's "8"!! And if you think the pic is too bright, change to another pic, and it'll momentarily dim, and you can see it's an 8.

Very weird. Looks like an 8 to me, too. Now, if there was a '6 and '7' in there somewhere, at least it would make sense.

(I zoomed in, and it's definitely an 8)

It's a 6, just flattened like every other number on the shifter.

I still see an 8. a 6 doesn't "cave in" at the middle joint

It seems like it does in fact look very similar to an 8, however I still think it's just a short and smushed 6. This is due in part to that the left side does have the indent in the middle, but you can also see that the 3 has that indent as well so I'd rule that part to the "font" they used. As for the other side, the "tail" of the 6 goes up and around, and because of the fat and wide style of all the numbers on there it gets close again to it's body. But right about where that part happens is where we can see that the light for the picture is hitting, blurring the line of sight there since we can't see the shadow in the indentation as seen in the other numbers.
