A few years ago, I rented a Cavalier (a horrible driving experience, but
that's a whole other topic). Upon returning to my '93 Accord, I thought the
brake pedal seemed soft as well. I suppose the Crap-alier's brake pedal was
hard as a rock and required a lot of pressure to activate the brakes.
I'm guessing that the softness in the pedal may be normal, as long as you
don't have to push it all the way to the floor to activate the brakes.

Re: Soft Brake Pedal
The abrupt braking response on some GM cars is an allusion to inspire
security. Comparatively, the Honda brakes might feel more 'squishy' but when
the going gets tough, they're easier to modulate (especially in the slick
stuff)

Drive a Chrysler minivan for 5 minutes, then go back to your CR-V. Your
brakes will feel extremely responsive again.
