I think its here because of the xA, xB, and all those other micro cars. For years Honda has done well competing with other lines of cars. They even added the Ridgeline for the truck people. (Which sucks. heh)
They brought over the Fit over probably because the high sales of little cars after the xA/xB were introduced. And due to gas.

And it worked. The Fit is hot and everyone knows it. :D
They knew the car would sell. ANY car they send over thats in Japan only will sell like nothing her in the

Actually, yes. I don't know for sure about the xA, but we have both a Fit Sport and Scion xB (1st gen). The xB platform is very similar to the xA.

The stock Fit handles marginally better than the stock xB did. Our xB has a few minor mods- rear shocks, rear sway bar, Yokohama Avid TRZ tires (stock size). Now it handles better than the stock Fit. The tires made a huge difference- the Goodyear Eagle LS's that came on the xA and xB do not grip or corner well. The new shocks took away a lot of the bounce and harsh ride so it's not skittish hitting bumps in a corner. Stock shocks in the xB made the Fit ride seem like a Cadillac.

The Fit has more power so I think it would still beat our xB in a slalom or road course though.

Hahahahaha I bet you were. Since so clearly it was stated how the Fit is much more dominant over the measly ricey xA and yet you still couldn't lose it. Hahahaha so I am safe to assume that you obviously do suck. And no I am not a professional driver but you should be affraid of my the name tailgunner. Take "I'll smoke your ass" how you want but at the end of the day I shall smoke it in more way than one!!! Hahaha the frog pic is cute. But since I needed a vehicle with good gas mileage I chose the one that looked better and handled better and was faster. Plus what I have seen on the Fits gas mileage mine gets better also. I think that I have the better car. By the way you may want to contact Honda and see if they will make the headlights any bigger there is a little hood left they could scrap.

agreed! i was just joking around. While i don't think it was TOTALLY because of scion that the fit is here, that did play a part in it.

the fit having more power wouldn't affect it beating you in the slalom, as its not a measure of power but of body control and grip.

The fit handles exceptionally better than the stock xb, at least in sport trim.(lower profile tires)

He wasn't wrong in assuming anything...what is wrong is comparing a non-stock car to a stock car. Aftermarket shocks, sway bars and most importantly, better tires, do WORLDS for a cars handling.

Re test them after you have done the same to the fit and then get back to us. :)

the xb may be light, but it will never be aerodynamic. steering feel? oh it wishes...

heaven forbid that someone gets their feelings hurt. please dude you think that you've had that kind of an impact with your impressive 6 little posts?

which car looks better is subjective to each person. (but the fit is still better.:p )

the gas mileage between the two is pretty close, not far enough for it to really matter though. and you know what? the xd is a lot newer than the fit as is its engine, so it SHOULD be getting better gas mileage.

you might want to contact toyota and tell them to stop making their cars look like ass.

xD has the same motor as the Corolla and the Matrix. The #'s are under estimated since when I drove my mom's Matrix, it gave better mileage then my Fit. This is full tank to full tank comparison.

yeah but...'08 Civic...is 26-34mt or 25-36at and its a 1.8L 140hp!!!...stats are just stats...
some people have better or worse depending on who and what they are/do. It is usually meant for a very generalized majority...my old civic spiked at 60 something mpg once...that doesnt mean it was great on gas...(well it kinda was sometimes...) many times it was just in the mid twenties..it was an AT.;) 115hp and 109tq 1.7L:o

I dont think the Fit is the best in any one particular category...
but a fantastic rounding out of them all.
"in a race season you could win the "overall" if you place second in every race"
I would much rather have a vehicle that is good but not necessarily great in any one category, rather than be great in one, two, or more but suck in many others.. ;)

Yes when reading those cute little numbers i did want a fit more. But the Honda dealership was trying to screw me. i believe the Fit was 15,600. I said ok lets sign the papers. Then the papers come out and I had a charge of 2,300 bucks more. I said what the hell?!?!?!?!? The sales man told me it was complimentary floor mats, bumper cover, and acid rain protection. So I told them to take that shit off. After heated conversation I left. Drove the xD and the price was 16,400. Yeah base price it was a little more but I didn't have to pay that extra bull shit. I did like the Fit alot but i was still saving 1,200 bucks. So after driving and filling up 3 times I have concluded with driving in mixed conditions I consume approx 35 mpg. Driving Highway I have gotten 39 once and 41 another. That was the average for the full tank consumption. I am sure the fits will do the same or really close plus or neg. I have just been messin with you guys cause there is nothing to do at work. And I promise I won't really rape Gettin~fit... Although it was funny for a while.... :D

a lot of folks get good gas mileage in their fits, both cars are fuel efficient.

but if numbers are what you are after, take into consideration that honda's newest 1.8 does EVEN better in a car that weighs even more than the xd AND it has more hp.

again, the xd should be a little better than the fit in some regards, its SEVEN YEARS newer.

unfortunately there is a lot more demand for the fit. thankfully i didn't have any mark up on mine. Doing whats right for you is fine and no one can blame you for that.

but posting up the crap that you have when no one really knows you just because you are bored still isn't cool.

what numbers are 'underestimated?' the hp/tq numbers are spot on, and the mileage numbers i quoted are the new epa estimates and reflect real world driving. You can still do better, as it depends on the driver to.

I'm assuming your mom has an older matrix, since the new one with the xd's 1.8 isn't out yet, and its not hard to believe, because again it depends on the driver.

I used to get a bit better mileage on my civic over my fit too.
