Odyssey 2000-2001 questions
My local Honda dealer has a few low mileage 2000 and 2001 Odysseys on his
lot. With low mileage I mean in the 35,000 to 48,000 range for those years.
Any issues with these model years? Consumer Reports gives them best buy.
But, I read a few postings on tranny troubles. Also, I read the 2000 and
2001's
have an extended 100,000 warranty on the tranny. Is that for all used
Odysseys in these model years? Any information appreciated. Fairly good
prices on these model years...if they are reliable that is.

TRANSMISSIONS.
Stay away. Stay far, far away.
02 changed a bunch of stuff. More powerful engine, completely different
transmission, available factory leather and DVD system.
But very importantly, you do NOT want the tranny troubles that came with
the 99-01 models.
http://www.odyclub.com for all the information you can stand.

Re: Odyssey 2000-2001 questions
It shows how much value consumer reports has. If you are interested in the
Odyssey go to www.odyclub.com and start reading. There are over 20,000
members with Odysseys. With their problems I don't see how Honda still gets
the reliability ratings that they get...

Inertia.
Honda spent 25 years developing a sterling reputation. Come the 98
model year, their 4 speed trans on the V6 engines was pure junk.
That was a relatively small issue overall for them, and they've managed
it well with respect to the public.
It's hard to overcome inertia.
