Ginding noise in 94 civic 5sp tranny

when it's usually over 1500-2000 rpm.
I have to check the fluid level (I don't know if the previous owner ever
changed it) and also check the exh. pipe - but there is no noise if the car
is not moving no matter what the rpm is.
I was planning on replacing the clutch, pplate and throwout bearing, but at
176k miles, I wonder if I am better off buying a used tranny from a junk
yard?

Re: Ginding noise in 94 civic 5sp tranny

I found out I have to remove the lower ball joints, will try to do this
afternoon after I get a tool. I mistakenly though the driveshafts would
bolt to flanges on the tranny like on a VW I worked on years ago.

Re: Ginding noise in 94 civic 5sp tranny

I ended up ordering a rebuilt tranny for $500 shipping from CA.
I hope to have in a week.
The old one was making so many grinding noises plus the 3rd gear syncro was
worn out too,
