98 Civic Power Steering Pump

98 Civic w/ 137,000 miles. Hard steering w/ whining in PS pump. Changed
pump w/ rebuilt one from O'Reiley. No change even though I made sure to
burp out any air in lines and fluid full. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
for any help.

Valve body is defective, or lines are kinked or plugged with crap.

The valve body is at the bottom of the steering column where it goes into
the rack.

Also, are you making sure to use genuine Honda PS fluid?

Re: 98 Civic Power Steering Pump

are you sure it was the PS pump? theres an idler pulley right beside it for
the A/C that could wear out too.
