Robbed!

Someone broke into my car last night, and without damaging or breaking ANYTHING, managed to rummage through my glovebox, pouring its contents onto the floor and taking only my 30gig ipod. They could've screwed me worse by taking my military ID and my insurance/registration I left in the car. How does someone pick the lock like that I don't get it. I was pretty damn scared when I noticed in the parking lot after leaving the club around 3am so I didn't bother calling police or anything. Just wanted to get the hell out of there. My car was the last in the parking lot. I guess that's what I get for claying/waxing my car leaving it looking expensive and fresh for thieves eyes to fall upon.....Oh well it could've been a helluvalot worse right? :o

no, it's so freaking weird. It's almost as if I'm insane, but I'm not because I leave my ipod in my glovebox every time I park, but the docking charger I leave connected. I should've known better. Someone looked in and noticed the charger and figured it'd be worth it to spend however long to break in and find the ipod....all the door handles and locks are fine. It's so weird.

yes you were very lucky that was all they took! phew. glad it wasnt worse. sorry to hear about your ipod though. do you have an alarm system? and lock the car? i know on my alarm if my car is left unlocked for more than a couple a minute or 2, it auto locks the car and the alarm engages. might want to look into one of em if you dont already have one.

its pretty hard to pick our style locks... youtube some lock picking videos. older style car keys are way easy to pick, new ones not so much(if i remember right). you would think if they were to break in, they would have to punch out your keyhole and pull the lock open.

I'm definitely in the market for the loudest, most obnoxious alarm ever invented now lol. I thought the Fit auto-locks when you go far enough away from it anyway? I know it does because I was standing around it smoking once and heard it lock itself. But it was locked last night anyway. I really wish I could know who did it and how. I hope they die lol

no scratches near the window? may be they used a slim jim....

good thing they didnt key holes out tho, its really annoying when they do that. theyve done it at a couple trucks where i work. and being an electrician we always have a few hundred dollars worth of personal tools in the truck. and the owner is in no hurry to fix em ;/ theyve never stolen my tools, but they have stolen my coworkers and some of the owners tools out of the trucks. and since he hasnt got the locks fixed, ppl keep breakin into it lol. all you have to do is stick your finger in the hole and push up on the lock.

of course its a stupid question... but did you lock the door? ..and does your fit have that auto-locking mechanism on your car? My alarm locks it self after a couple minutes or so.

They had a key.... Thats why. Theres a lot of people out there now with master keys for ANY Honda.
If they popped the lock the alarm would have went off as it only goes off if the doors are opened.

Its really sad. :(

That's the only explanation I could think of. How does someone acquire a master Honda key anyway? Definitely was the way they did it. And yes as I said my Fit autolocks. I think all Sports do.

They only auto lock after the car has been locked, then you unlock it and DO NOT open any doors. 30sec to 1min the car will relock. If the doors have been opened it wont lock. After shutting the car off and exiting the car will not lock itself.

People can get master keys from work at Honda. You can order them, steal them, and Im sure get them on ebay now. Or any other site that makes keys Im sure.

i thought the master keys will only unlock the door but not the start the car without the chip in the key.

..and you would assume that there would be a strict list on how many of these master keys are made and who they're given to.

You don't even need a master-key. Give them the vin and if they're too lazy to check if you even own the car, they can cut it in less then 5 mins.

The dont want the car... Theres nothing of value on the Fit. Only thing people steal off the cars is the wheels and the front lip.
Mainly the wheels.

No club. You need an aftermarket alarm with add-ons. Anything made by DEI is good. Check out these websites for info.

"What's the best alarm?": Alarm Breakdown
Cause For Alarm: A guide On How Not To Get Jacked

And I always tell everyone this, it doesn't matter what measures of security that you have on your car. If someone wants it bad enough they will get it. The idea is to detour the under prepared thief or slow down the veteran enough for the police to intervene.

EDIT: Oh yeah! Take your valuables out of the car at all times if possible.

The thief's intention were clear. They aimed to get either an Ipod or a GPS device. That's one of the reasons why I don't carry anything in my car anymore. Also, you should report to the police so they can take statistics around the area and know which areas are being hit hardest for these crimes.

I saw a news report about 3 months ago about a rich neighborhood in SoCal got hit with a wave of GPS thief. If you keep stuff in your car. Don't leave anything that hints/traces that you have it in your car.

Don't get the club. My first del Sol was stolen the night after I bought it. I had the club on it and it ended up costing me an extra $1,000.00 to fix because they sawed through the steering wheel to get it off.

Next mod should be a shotgun that fits into your backpack, lol... God help the next person that trys to break in. haha

One of the girls at my work had her car broken into tonight at 1am, by smashing the window. I was parked right beside her, thank god they chose the shitty Cavalier over my Fit! :D

ugh that blows. Thieves are the lowest of the low man. Burglars of houses and cars all deserve the most gruesome of deaths. A shotgun in my backpack sounds like a GRAND idea :) maybe a small camera that nobody can really see on the rearview mirror? I could make MILLIONS! heh

I know it will only get worse when my new wheels come in this week :/
