Thanks! I was reading up on the D series, but I'm leaning more torwards a B. K seems more difficult, and a B might be easier to source or cheaper. I think the B will offer me more options should I decide to get deeper than a naturally aspirated 180 or so HP. Although maybe I could find a D just to drop in and drive the car until I have everything for the B swap. The guy has the engine and trans, along with another set of wheels (haven't seen them yet), another hood and bumper (ran into the garage!), and a header and new exhaust. The engine is just taken apart right now.

So I got to peek at the title the other day, and it's an Si. Now I'm REALLY trying to get him to trade/sell it to me. :) I've decided that I'll probably try to source a B16A from Ebay if it all works out.

If I source all parts and provide them, any ideas on how much labor generally is for dropping an engine in?

really depends on where you go. id say $800 or around there since they are taking out your old motor and putting in the new one.

what motor is in your car right now? d16a6? i have that in my hatch and i like it even though its not a B series. it gets up and goes for sure

Right now the car doens't have a motor or trans. So maybe a shorter job, which means less labor? But $1000 was what I was thinking on the high end.

yeah it will be about that much but if it is already out then you should try and do it yourself. easiest part is putting it in.

this motor will drop right in your car

thanks man. just trying to help. i was in this situation a few years ago when i was trying to find a motor for my hatch. i bought mine from a friend for 200 with tranny and its been running good ever since.

that would honestly be the cheapest solution. to take that D series motor and drop it in your car cause you could use the stock mounts and all the plugs without changing over. The good thing about the ZC tranny is the short gears. With that 120 HP on your crx, since its so light, will be a fun little car.

ive ran Base model RSX, 05 civic SI and a 91 integra with intake, header and exhaust and beat/kept up with them on a stock d16a6.
