What would you guys pay for this car? Advice needed.

So my question is, how much would you guys pay for this car? Saw it and was looking into it. My gf isn’t happy with her 09 Aveo (can’t blame her) and she misses my Accord. Would this be a worthy price or should I bring it down. I really like the TSX and it’s a 6MT. The only thing that bothers me is the mileage. I do think that is only minimal life taken from a Honda. I would bet on much more coming out of it. On the flip side, what could I get for the 09 Aveo privately. She owes about $13k (long upsetting story) or would it be better to walk and wait? I have the vin of the TSX if someone can run a free carfax for me. Thanks!

Small local auto dealer wants $16,880 for
2006 Acura TSX 6MT with NAVI
~69xxx miles

the car is nice. hard and rare to find a 6MT..let alone plus navi..mileage is alright i think..a little over 20k a year...just make sure maint. is up to date and i would def. lower the price to like 16500 OTD or something. keep in mind, timing belt is gonna be changed soon...brake pads, oil flushes, etc. but nice car. i wanted one but settled with a Lexus IS300 instead. but sold that cuz gas guzzler! hahha

my strategy w/ used car dealers is to take the lower of edmunds or kbb "good" condition trade-in value as your starting point. most dealers will make the deal if you are +/- couple hundred of "excellent" condition trade-in because it still allows them to make a bit of profit.

After mileage adjustment and location adjustment they say trade-in is $14279.00. Before that it was $15660. You are saying you would use the 14279 as a starting point? I feel like if I would walk in like with that number they would laugh at me, although the economy isn't up to snuff right now and a sale would be a sale.

yes. whether the dealer took the car in on trade or picked it up at an auction, their cost would typically align much closer to average manheim value, which is always lower than kbb or edmunds trade-in. factor in transportation, wash / detail, sales commission and your offer of $14,300 would about hit the break-even point -- good place to start.

they'll likely still laugh at you, but that's no more than posturing, just like how after they sell you the car for $14,800 they'll claim you robbed them.

That is alot of mileage even for a honda. I would be concerned with that many miles being put on in a few short years. Think long and hard about that. The TSX is nice for sure, way better than chevy. See what you can do about that price though, don't be afraid to walk if the dealer is trying to screw you.

I think i will wait. My gf will be out of school in a year and a half and then we can decide what car she wants when she starts making decent wages. I thank everyone for their opinions and advice.

The reason for being upset in the first post was that she had trouble with her first car, 2004 Suzuki Verona, and after taking it back to the dealer with their warranty on it they said it is not worth fixing. They traded in her car at current value, tacked the gap on to the new car and called it a day. She was happy and I was pissed. I would never do business with that dealer after her first purchase and then the second one just got worst. Overpriced car with the gap tacked on made for a really overpriced car. Now she is fighting to stay ahead of the payments so she doesn't owe more than it is worth. I wanted to buy a Honda but it was too late. I also wanted to keep a larger sedan for taking people with us when we go places. She ended up with a smaller car than mine. I remember the first time I had to fold down the seats. Took me 35 minutes to figure it out and had to read the manual. I give a big thanks to Honda for making our car so easy to use!

I know the mileage did seem like a lot but I know Hondas last a long time if you maintain them

if you like paying for premium go for it. overall the price isnt too bad but i would nego. on it

my gf just picked up a TL with navi but she hates paying for premium cause it cost $40 to fill up.
reason why its marked up is because its fully loaded with leather and navi, plus the cost of cleaning and whatever else that might have fixed on the car (ie new tires, touch up paint)

also with your aveo i would see what they would give you for that if you traded it in because i doubt there going to give you your pay off value and private might take longer to sell but if you can get it for what you owe then yeah go for it. honestly i would get another accord just so you dont have to pay for the premium gas.

for the price you could almost buy a 2010 accord lx sedan
