Fit vs. Spectra5

I noticed that nobody is comparing these two cars, maybe because the fit is much better on gas. But i still think they should be compared. The spec5 has 138 hp compared to the Fits 108. The fit has way better gas and more room tho. They look similar. I am still more towards the Fit, but what are your opinions about the Spectra5

Kia v/s Honda... you have the answer !

I just don't trust Kia as a reliable car maker. I work w/ that girl
who own a Kia Rio; this thing is falling appart after just one year !

The wheel bearins, the tranny (manual)... Also, 400 km for one
full of fuel !!! rear drums make scratching/scraping noise... 1 year !

I know that the spectra is supposed to be better but...

My opinion,
Philippe

In looks the Fit is comparable to the Spectra5, but in stats is more comparable to the Rio5.

wheelbase: 98.4
length: 158.1
width: 66.7
height: 57.9 (vs. 60.0 for Fit)
track (ft./rear): 57.9/57.5
curb wt. (man./auto.): 2438/2487
mpg (city/hwy.): 32/35 manual, 29/38 auto.
hp (sae net): 110

interior measurements are reasonably similar

Of course you must consider Kia's notoriously low resale value and build quality.

I think a better competitor would be the Suzuki Aerio. But it is still not a Honda!

i would take da FIT for sure! i almost die from a kia spectra,i was at da red light! i got hit of a gmc suv from the back about 45mph per hrs, nothing damage except his license frame! but my spectra was totaled. my spectra was a 4 doors...after the accident, it looks like a hatchback! and i got injured on my neck n my lower back, stayed at da hp for 6 months!!thats how weak the korean cars are!!

Anyone else remember the short review of the Rio in the UK magazine CAR in the GB&U section a few years back?

It went something like this....

Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand
Just like that river twisting through a dusty land
And when she shines she really shows you all she can
Oh Rio, Rio dance across the Rio Grande

....get the picture?

The Fit has 109 hp not 108 :) But seriously, the Rio Spectra 5 has a horrible manual shifter, the interior looks plain cheap compared to the Fit, and even though it has more HP Car and driver made it dead even 0-60 and the Fit won the 1/4 mile. Plus being a honda made in Japan you can count on bullet proof build quality and reliability.
