i think nissan is doing great things with the Juke. i've seen two in person so far: one parked at the grocery store and one while i was driving. it looks great in person and not nearly as funky as it seems in pictures. those press photos make it look GIGANTIC when it's really just slightly larger than a versa hatch.

I look at the Juke and I confess, I don't get it.
Then again, when I look at the Cube and the Scion xB, I weep for the future of our world when automotive engineers resort to putting wheels on a shoebox and think it's 'cool'.

I saw a road test of one and in the real world setting there emerged a functional attractive appearance that only is visible on certain cars in the real world setting they are to be used in.... I had a BMW R 1100 GS that was cloggy appearance wise in relation to my Harley Wide Glide but in motion on a fire road in the Washita mountains it was a thing of beauty.

My wife was wanting a Suzuki SX 4 Crossover hatchback but instead decided on a Subaru Forester....I am pretty sure she would have preferred a Juke if they had been on the market at the time.... She has reached the age where she wants to appear more dignified and practical in appearance and is happy with driving the Forester but she still likes to ride up and down the road on her minibike in her pajamas, pink robe, packing a .38 wearing and black beret that she will trade off for her hat with mosquito net packing a when springtime rolls around.

It's time for a Renaissance of Japanese sports cars. None of this avant garde design school experiment drawn on the back of a trapper-keeper junk. I want twin cams, 2 liters, a turbo and put it in something that actually resembles a sports car.

Ok, I have to admit - I love this car. It's going to be my next vehicle - I've been doing some research on them, and so far it's a heck of a bargain hot hatch!
As for the size, it's exactly 1" longer than the Fit, 3" wider, and 1" taller, with an inch longer wheelbase, so almost the same footprint as the Fit.
188hp turbo 1.6 with a 6spd manual (FWD only) that's rated 31mpg highway...yes, it's not the stellar fuel economiser that the Fit is, but it's not bad...
As for storage space, that's another story. Where the Fit has 20/57 cubic ft of storage (rear seats up/down), the Juke has 10.5/35.9 (up/down), and it doesn't have the Magic Seats. There are some definite trade-offs...
I've always liked the funky car that looks like nothing else on the road, so this is perfect for me!

Wait till you drive one before passing judgement. I test drove it briefly, that also surprised me. I don't think it is as good as the Fit, but better than a lot of cars out there, especially a SUV.

indeed.
i was stuck in traffic behind a silver Juke yesterday. i followed it for 1.5 hrs (traveled a total of 20 miles, LA traffic sucks) -__- and all i could think about was how HUGE the fender gap was. it sits so high that even lowering it by 3 inches would be a "mild" drop

we saw a measly 22 mpg combined. Just remember, kids: Small turbo engines drink fuel just like their larger, normally aspirated counterparts when you have your foot burried in the carpet. In this case, Nissan's little alien sucks down premium juice, so it would pay to go a little lighter on the fun pedal should you decide to park a 2011 Juke in your driveway.
