Yaris RECALL

It looks like it's going to be even harder for anyone to find a Yaris to compare to the Fit.

Toyota recalls vehicles over faulty engine

In the United States, 24,490 cars sold under the name Echo and Yaris, as well as 8,476 Prius vehicles are affected by the recall.

Sweet. My sister-in-law wanted an "economy" car. Wasn't sure if she wanted the Fit or the Yaris. (she allways owned toyotas) Now I guess this, along with the yaris' crash rating, will help her decide :D THANK GOD!

This will only add to the woes of any future Fit owners. It will only make availability worse.

That's only for 2001 models. The U.S. Yaris is a 2007 model.

In another note, this is the second recall for Toyota this month!

Edit: On second read, 2001 is only for vehicles sold in Japan. So the 2007 US Yaris may very well be affected.
Edit: Nevermind, the affected vehicles sold in the overseas were also manufactured in 2001. Not sure why was the name "Yaris" used, since that was not used until this year.

Agreed. This looks like it would not affect any US Yaris cars since it was cars manufactured in 2001.

Still looks bad for Toyota though.

No, its for engines manufactured in 2001. Since the Yaris is just now available, it must be on the European model that has been out for awhile.

Every company has recalls. It isnt an excuse to bash the Yaris or Toyota.

In particular Honda/Acura recently had many issues with their automatic transmissions that were equipped with J series v6s. This includes the previous gen TL and CL, Oddyssey, MDX, etc.

Mine was done over the summer. Drivers side sometime back in 2016, and then the passenger side last summer.
My 2016 Mustang hasn't popped yet, but probably will soon.

My 2005 Mustang GT finally got both it's bags replaced. I put it off forever because they were low on parts... Good think I waited, the parts came in and they too were recalled.
So last summer both sides got replaced...

So much fun with Takata…
