Honda Ridgeline to be dropped in 2014 - report
Could return in 2016
According to a recent report, the Honda Ridgeline will go out of production sooner than expected.
Wards Auto is reporting the model will be phased out in September of 2014. This is a tad surprising since the next-generation model isn't expected to be launched until the middle of 2016.
There's no word on what sparked the change, but Ridgeline sales peaked in 2006 when the company sold 50,193 units in the United States. Sales have generally slowed down but the company managed to sell 14,068 units last year - a 44.2% improvement from 2011. The sudden boost is credited to the introduction of the Ridgeline Sport which features a honeycomb grille, tinted headlights, black exterior trim and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Little is known about the next-generation Ridgeline but it could continue to be one of the most car-like trucks on the market.
