If people in this country would just understand that HP isnt god, and some of these damn manufacturers would spend some time and money figuring out how to make the car lighter instead of having more horespower, we would have a MUCH higher mpg average. But its much easier to just bolt stuff on and add more power then to make something lighter yet safe. Look at the Lotus Elise... well under 200hp, but faster then most things on the road. Lightness ftw

power to weight ratio is 3146lbs with 505hp.. or 6.22lbs/hp.. find me a
production car that has better power-weight ratio.

Make the car 600lbs lighter, and you can drop the hp, and increase gas milage. Bad example with a pure sports car, i was going more for sedans, etc

some of you were saying you couldnt go over 109mph? I wonder if thats on automatics. I know in the Sentra community, the automatic governor is different than on the manual... so maybe the auto Fits have a different governor than the MT ones...

A lotus could still take one though :P

Sure.. power/weight ratio isn't everything unless you just want the car to
go straight.. ;-)
1900lbs/190hp is just 10lbs per hp... plenty of cars have that kind of ratio
especially if you consider Elise's entry price of $45k (if I'm remember
correctly).

A lotus can be had used for about 33k now. There might be other cars with similar power2weight but the lotus is a sub 2000lb car.

Of course, Lotus should outrun any car with similar p2w... sub-2000lbs
gives lotus a huge advantage in transition, braking and grip.
I was simply talking about the p2w numbers alone... many newer cars on
the market now are getting heavier and heavier.. they compensate that
with more and more power... BUT if you look at the tire size on these cars.
They dont ever increase anywhere in the same rate.
