2 wires... ground and power. The same wire that powers the lights is the same wire that powers the homelink.

Programing the home link is easy and works with most garages/gates. Programing instructions will be mailed with the unit or can be found on line at http://www.homelink.com/programming/programming.taf.

To cut the hole I made a stencil out of cardboard.
