WTB: cheap road bike
you guys are too awesome, i really appreciate all the help!
i just read about a mountain/road bike hybrid on bikeforums.net.. any experience with that? pretty much a mountain bike with a rigid fork, 1.5 slicks, and a road bike stem. since my bike will be primarily used for transport and occasional rides, would you recommend this for a noob?
if i ask nicely my father inlaw might give me his mountain bike for free lol

that's what i'm hoping i can get into! there's a group of riders in the valley that do weekly rides from porter ranch to north hollywood. some even do the entire ride on single speed or fixies 
i'll start with something cheap. if i like it then i'll upgrade, if not then at least i've got a bike for emergency 7eleven slurpee runs haha.

and people were out bidding each other to get the bike.... LoL I do have extra frame and it 52cm but it full carbon frame and it kind of out of your budget, but unless want it LMK.
I will keep my eyes open for a bike for you and if you plan to upgrade, I have parts laying around my garage. I'm that that forum too! hahaha

it's a Raleigh mountain bike frame with horizontal drop outs. fixie/single speed project starts after I've finished moving, I can't wait! placing an order for a flip flop rear hub this Monday
