Drove home from San Antonio on Friday... from Lackland to Decatur TX my trip meter said 315.1 miles... ended up with 40.6 MPG going anywhere from 70-80 mph on I-35 north. There was plenty of traffic on the interstate but it was moving along pretty good. I was at least 1 or 2 car lengths away from another car for at least 200 miles of that 315 so i'm sure that is what helped my MPG. I got 34.8 on the way down to San Antonio just 2 days before that in very light traffic and stop and go in Austin and north San Antonio.

I'm in Anderson County on the edge of the Piney Woods just north of Palestine.... There are just old people here that drive Fits. I'm the only young person that has one that will boogy. Age is a relative thing though. I'll be 59 in a few months, but don't tell my girlfriend..... The folks here drive pickups, and SUVs, for the most part, and don't take kindly to being passed by an old longhaired man in a clown car, with a loud exhaust note. I guess I distract them from their hamburgers and phone conversations..... You should have a Rally here in March during the Dogwood Festival. It is pretty then and there are some farm to market roads and state highways where you can pull some strong lateral Gs. and all of the cops will be in town posturing for the tourist on their Harleys and Goldwings..... There is also always a car and bike show for those of you that like to show off the eye candy, sound systems , paint , body, suspension, and wheel and tire modifications. We are pretty much in the center of the population of the state..... Check it out as a location for a meet..... You might be fortunate enough to meet the village idiot if they don't run me out of here first.

 

My wife took a trip to Houston to San Antonio back to Houston and back to Anderson County.... From Huntsville on while on the road she saw 14 Fits with Silver Storm Metallic being the color most prevalent.... 14 is more than we saw altogether for the first 3 or more years that we had ours.

This is a meet for all car types and all people (family and friends). No racing, reving, showing off!! Please if you do show up, buy something from starbucks. Each month we will meet up same place and time but the drive will be different.

A lot of big major cities do this and would be great for El Paso to have one as well. We need your suport.
