Question +38 vs +45 offset

I've come across a set of used Rota Attack 15" rims with +38 offset. Now, I've heard that the recommendation for 2007 Fits is to have offset anywhere between +45 to +55. My question is- what would be the impact to the handling performance with the +38 offset compared to the +45 or +55? I was told that the +45 or +55 wheels will look more set inside the fenders/wheel wells whereas the +38 will protude more outwards. Would I need spacers to mount these +38 Rotas? Would there be any difference in handling performance between the +38 vs +45, +55?

I had +37 15x7 wheels.

You will not need spacers, spacers would make them stick out further.

As for handling, the lower offset will be slightly harder on wheel bearings and such, but you'll never notice the difference.

the +45 to +55 offset is a very safe offset that is recommended for people that just want different wheels and not worry about any kind of rubbing. +38 will put the front wheels just about flush with the fenders. Tires I would recommend 195/55/15 or 195/50/15 to minumize rubbing.

If the car is lowered go with 195/50, I only rubbed over the biggest of bumps and hard turns.

Question

My Fit is not lowered and I'm planning to put 195/50/15 tires on them. As it's not lowered, what are the chances of it rubbing during hard cornering/bumps etc?

I can't imagine it doing so. If by some odd shot it does just tuck the front fender liner

I have had 16"X7" 38 mounted wheels with 195-50-16 tires my GD... that was lowered a little bit with Swift springs.. It looked alright but the tires were always hitting on the under side of the fenders on fast turns or bumpy roads... I have 16"-6 1/2" 45s mounted with 205-50 16s and no clearance issues.. The 38 mm offset wheels weigh more because the centers are 7 mm thicker and they do place more strain on more than just the bearings... Your steering, struts, ball joints and strut towers are bearing the extra levered force that are placed on them...
