Offset help....

Hey lads, I am trying to figure out if I'll be ok running 16x7" wheels with a +38mm offset in place of my factory 15"s. I plan on using a 5mm spacer (w/out studs) or a 10mm spacer with studs. However when I ran my calculations through an offset calculator here are the result I got:

"You will have 4mm MORE clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 30mm"

I entered the new wheels as 205/45/16's.... Will I really have 30mm difference on the outside?? Doesn't seem right to me?

Anyways the offest calculator I used is located here, feel free to play around with it:

you're going to rub the inner fender with those wheels/tires.

are you rubbing your struts or c/o's?

for 16x7 running 205/45/16's, depends on the tire you get, but
i would try to keep it +45 range on the offset, given that you're
not rubbing your aftermarket struts or c/o's.

Damm it looks like Im limited to slipstreams then .... Not that thats a bad thing. Thanks for your help, and your response is exactly what I thought based on peoples statements around here... That offset calculator is a piece of garbage, it told me the opposite :S

The wheels with the 38 offset should be fine with a 10mm (or even 5mm) spacer though right??

My drop will be GF210

why would you add spacers? that will lower the offset and you will rub like a madman.

with those wheels/tires, you don't need any spacers. that's what i have, and i had to do the fenderliner trick on the front to stop the rubbing, as the offset is too LOW.

10mm spacers add to + offset right?

Well if this is the case then according to this calculator I will lose 2mm of clearance on the suspension side if I rock 205/45/16's on a 38 offset with a 10 mm spacer...... Is this not correct??

Wheel / tire size calculator / comparer - BIGCUSTOMWHEELS

Where the hell am I going wrong here???

Spacers will push the wheel out, dropping the offset. The lower the offset the more the wheel sticks out, the higher the offset the more the wheel is sunk in..

10-4 Thanks guys. I was under the impression that spacers added to offset.

They will rub with 38 mm offset even without spacers. Spacers reduce the offset by the thickness: hence 38 mm wheel with 10 mm spacer = 28 mm offset. You won't just rub you wil hammer.
