And the 1.6 will be looking for more than that, but not beyond say ~275whp or more than ~8500rpm?
MHI TD05H-14B-6cm2 would be my choice.. sturdy as hell, many chugging along after 200k miles of abuse. Easy to rebuild, and many who rebuild them when or if needed.
Spools very fast, yet won't choke on a 1.5 or 1.6L
Divorced internal gate, get the discharge flange and have an Oxygen Sensor housing made.. can be re-circulated or atmosphere dump. If you go this route have a 2.5" v-band downpipe made and dump the wastegate right off the housing.
You'll thank me.

I can't think of one that's more appropriate or proven for what you've outlined.
In some cases I'll recommend a Borg K03/K04 or some version of a GT25R/28R.. but that is cost you don't need unless you are absolutely fixated on a ball bearing center section. Inferior turbine housing as well.. they have a non-divorced internal wastegate design, not to mention that goofy 5-bolt discharge pattern to boot.
Ask Lyon how much fun persistant boost creep is, and never being able to got WOT unless you port the ever living fuck out of the wastegate.. only to still deal with the shitty discharge/downpipe you would be stuck with.
Higher boost applications require less bypass, and its not a problem.. we dont have that luxury. We have a high bypass proportion.
The MHI 14B will allow you to also swap turbine housings on the 14B and keep the same footprint..6cm2 or 7cm2 from the 16G.. the compressor wheels, comp housings, and CHRAs can be swapped for any combination from 14B to 20G at minimal cost and effort. The 2-bolt compressor housing discharge lets you make a custom J-pipe to fit your application yet tuck up against the block and clear the passenger side CV shaft, brake lines, etc.
You'd be the first person to complain about a turbo I've recommended
You can believe if I missed the mark there'd be threads about it lol

I'd cut and clean up the header flange off an ebay non-turbo L15A1 manifold if you can't find one, buy a TD05H Turbine inlet flange from a group like JNZ, extreme etc.. and have a reputable exhaust shop weld you a simple log manifold.

Seen this post on facebook... Reminded me why a vasectomy seemed like a wise choice.
