This is the scrape mark from the caliper touching the inside of the wheel. This is why the 3-mm wheel spacers are needed (and longer studs). I did not rotate my 16-incher, so no marks on that wheel.

This is what it looks like under the stock 15" Sport wheel. Same problem here. The caliper just touches the inside of the wheel. Need the 3-mm spacers and longer studs...sigh!

This how it looks under a 16" accessory wheel. BUT, there is not room between the caliper and the wheel. Need to install 3-mm wheel spacers and longer studs...so close, yet so far!

This is with the Axxis UTL pads and Type-R caliper. This caliper was gotten from http://store.zeckhausen.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=159_553_1550_1551&products_id=4349 for only $79! How is that for a cheap upgrade?

This is with a StopTech full floating disc installed and Type-R caliper bracket. The StopTech discs are very nice with aluminum hat section (center). I got them from http://store.zeckhausen.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=159_553_1550_1552&products_id=4347 An even cheaper version would be to install Spoon discs http://www.spoonsports.us/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=45251-4H1014. I chose the StopTech ($450) because they are 25-mm wide and the Spoon ($197) is 23-mm wide. both discs are 282-mm in diameter. Stock diameter is 262-mm.

This is with a stock replacement StopTech sloted disc (P/N 126.40021SR). This was a huge upgrade over the stock pancakes. But this was still not enough for me. So,this is what I will upgrate to Type-R brake system. This is my start point.

This is from the back side so you can see that the caliper has to be removed from its original ears and move to the top one. Also the bottom bolt has to be removed from the lower caliper pin (caliper-to-bracket bolt) so it can be rotated out.

Since the caliper is rotated up and out (with the pads removed) a 6” C-clamp is used to hold the piston in while the system is bled. Notice that the caliper has to rotate far enough so the bleed bolt is above horizontal (facing upwards slightly).

left rear looking straight outboard. Notice how the bleed bolt faces down. I got 3/4 of the brake pedal sponge with the system bleeded from this position. See my photo album to how to bleed these brakes.
