Help tpms problems

I broke a tpms sensor while changing tires today. I replaced it with a new one from Honda. On the way home the light came home. Do I have to take it to the dealer to pair the new sensor with the car.

Or can I use the info from this post to fix it.

That might work.

Which light came on? the TPMS light or the ( ! ) low tire pressure light?

You need Honda's HDS to program the TPMS IDs in.

Will they need information from the sensors packaging, or need to take the tire off, or will the HDS be able to get the info needed on its own?

I took the car in twice for getting a spare key made. The second time was because I lost a spare key. I found it since. The charged me for a hours work each time for aroun $100. If I have to pay for an hour this time, I hope they can program the key I found too.

Anytime a new sensor is introduced to the system a sensor relearn procedure is required. The Pre-Delivery Inspection procedure you posted up is irrelevant since those sensors are already programmed to the car, just in "sleep" or "transport" mode to preserve the battery.

The HDS will automatically pick up each sensor's ID frequency as the technician "chirps" each sensor during the TPMS learn process so no additional paperwork or hardware is required other than Honda's TPMS tool and the HDS.

if you bought new wheels/tires and put the old "TPMS Sensors"
in, there would be no problem because those TPMS have been programed
to the car?

I plan to buy another set of TPMS sensors also from a Honda Fit and put
those in my new wheels/Tires will there be problem?
Will the TPMS light come on? Do I need those sensors to be REPROGRAMMED?

what happens if you JUST did not put a TPMS Sensor in a new wheel/tire set? will it affect your vsc?

(what is an HDS?)

HDS = Honda Diagnostics System (yes, when I called it Honda's HDS, it was redundant).

VSA cannot be disabled (normally) if TPMS isn't working.

The ECU holds the IDs for the TPMS, so if you reuse the current TPMS sensors on new wheels it won't need reprogramming. Anything else will light up the TPMS indicator.

New sensors from Honda or 3rd party need to be programmed.

You could also avoid the headache off all this and just not run TPMS. Check your tire psi ragular my and you will be gravy. That's what I did, ten I mounted my scan gauge in front of the light so I don't have to look at it

You do not have to go to Honda for that key programing. When I wanted a 3rd key as a spare I went to a local lock shop. He ordered a key and two days later I stopped by. It cost me $50.00 for the key which was a chip type with integrated RKE for the doors. He charged an additional $10.00 to program it into my car. He came out with a laptop and plugged it in to the Fit diagnostic port. It took about 3 minutes for him to do it.

Check with a local locksmith.

So I called Honda they wanted to charge me $100 to fix the tpms. I asked if they could program the key too since they were going to charge for an hour for 20 minutes of work. They wanted to charge another $100 for the key. I bought the car there, had keys programed twice there too, and bought over $200 in accessories from them, when I bought the car. Im not too thrilled with them. If I buy another Honda I will give another dealer my business.
I next called Merchants Tire. They said they had the tool to fix it. Well they fixed it for me. It cost $21 including tax.

Tpms light on

That damn light came on again, with good air pressure on all four tires,,would like to disable the system,so I can turn off VSA whenever I want , I check tire pressures every two or three days anyway and I hate having to go to a dealer just because that light comes on whenever it feels like it. JJ

Depends on what it is for. are they replacing all of the sensors or have they said there is an internal issue to the TPMS system that isn't tied to the sensors (They're ok, but the system is not)

Heck,, I would not pay it, better spend the money disabling the system for good,or just ignoring the light, but I would like to be able to deactivate the VSA whenever I want. That system is so unreliable I sometimes wonder if the FIT is really a HONDA or some other contraption with the big "H" on the hood. JJ
