Front corner window poorly sealed?

so the front corner window on my sister's new-to-her 2010 fit looks like it wasn't attached properly, there's visible silicone blobs visible from the interior, it doesn't look flush with the sheet metal, and the little plastic piece in front of is seems loose...

and at highway speeds, it produces a lot of wind noise..

any ideas?

here's some pictures;

unknown
carfax was clean and the rest of the car looks great, it was purchased a few days ago and i only just noticed this after investigating the unusually high wind noise at high speeds.

but it sure looks like an improper something...
i wonder what a honda dealer would charge for re-sealing it?

That is a serious red flag... it's shoddy work, whether the car was in a major wreck, or they simply fubared a simple window replacement.

Carfax is useful for checking the condition of the title, however it's meaningless for the most part in detecting undeclared accidents or repairs.

Just have a couple auto glass repair shops look and give an estimate. If you don't know how to detect body shop repairs, I would strongly recommend that you take the car to a body shop and have them look and quote to repair it. You can often find repairs by checking the inside of door openings for masking lines, clear coat inconsistencies, etc. It would be difficult to tell when it's wet/snowy!

carfax literally pays you, sometimes quite a bit of money if the car's been in a wreck and they didn't catch it, that said, i did the standard check for crashes and didn't spot anything untoward. Aside from this, no other issues

concluding it's a salvage title just because of some weird sealing on the corner window....?

Carfax's guarantee only covers the case where the car has a branded title and they failed to catch that. Not all cars that have been in a wreck will have a branded title, for various reasons—possibly the damage wasn't sufficiently severe to meet the legal requirements for totaling the car, or possibly no insurance claim was made, for at least two reasons. (A person who has no collision coverage and gets in a single-car accident would have no reason to file an insurance claim. There may well be other circumstances where people choose not to, even if they could.)

I don't see where signs of a single window replacement, whether done poorly or not, implies a salvage title. I've had a window replaced on every car I've ever owned, including my Fit. None have had branded titles. In every case the window in question has been the windshield, for what it's worth.

Bingo! It will commonly miss everything else due to non-reporting!

The use of that type of sealant and a window fitment issue implies an idiotic installer, or bad bodywork which prevents proper installation of the glass. I wouldn't be worried about the title if your carfax was current.
Did you ever get any resolution yet?

not yet, it isn't my car, it's my older sister's which i helped pick out for her.
i'll probably wait until the weekend and have a trusted local body shop give it a look to determine what kind of damage it may have suffered in the past....then talk to a honda dealer about properly re-sealing it and re seating it
