I got the 09 SSM Sport auto navi tinted today, it was easy and the job went smooth, sorry I didn`t get any pics, it was raining so the next one I tint I`ll be sure and get pics.
So I've been told by several that you should never use window cleaner on the tints.
Today I went to my local hand wash place and they said they use window cleaner on tints all the time.
So who's right? Does it matter which brand tint?
NEVER use window cleaners such as Windex on Tint! My (good) wife was cleaning my truck for me and was complaining that it she couldn't get the window clean. She used Windex on the inside and it kind of fogged up the tint permanently. I use a window cleaner specifically made for tint.

So all those cars with tints that get cleaned at the hand wash place have ruined tints? How long does it take to show damage?
Are they cleaning the inside with a Windex type product? My damage occured about a year ago so it is a current formulation. The tint however is over 8 years old so things may have changed. The damge is pretty immediate.

My tint is obviously new, and the tint shop told me not to use anything but soap and water.
I really would like a definitive answer on this as the prospect of using a glass cleaner would really facilitate and simplify the car cleaning process.

Personally, I use a product called "Invisible glass". It works equally well on the exterior as well as the interior. One can has lasted me for more than a year and it is the only thing I use on the car glass at all. If the tint shop said use "soap and water" I would ask them if the aftermarket "safe for tint" would be okay.
There are several formulations of Windex and I suppose it may be possible that one of these is compatible with tinted windows. I am also on the Toyota forums and there was a similar thread about this subject and several others complained of "milkyness" after using Windex. The consensus there was not to use it.
