looks great! the sun is beaming in thru the windshield so it makes the tint look lighter than they really are, eh?

I had 3m tints. How do you wipe off the 3m logos safely? eg: rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover etc.

one way to solve that problem => roll down your driver side/passenger side front windows everytime you roll by a police car

lol I actually do do that.. but it seems to be a bit too obvious when it's freezing cold outside and I have my windows down. And I actually heard that some cops have you roll up your windows to actually check if you have illegal tint

some photos

Got my ride last weekend and then got it tinted this Saturday. I went with a lighter tint this time around, only 38% all around (previous car had 15% fronts, limo on the rest):

and from the other side using a different camera...

raigomaru, that's the exact percent i'm going with on my silver 09.......well at least on the sides. Thanks for posting the photos so i have an idea what im getting. I too like you have had MUCH darker tint. I just traded an 07 white fit that had 5% on all windows but windshield.

This car will have 38% on all sides, 20% on the rear hatch window only and 45% on the entire windshield. Yeah its technically illegal for the WHOLE windshield to be done, but so was 5% on my last car! LOL I just wanted the windshield done to make it smooth. I've had 2 previous cars that had 40% on the windshield and am going a tad lighter for this one.

I'll post pics up after the install on January 5th.

I took a quickie photo of the rear quarter window, see below (it's a lot lighter than what the photo represents):

And a closer photo of the back window to give you an idea on how much light transmittance is:

If you don't mind having different shades of tint, you should consider going 28% or 20% on the back (and maybe rear quarter windows). I have 38% all around right now and once in a while I'll got some dork behind me with a shitty HID kit installed (usually in a tC), and 38% in the back window doesn't quite cut the blinding glare.

And... I say "nay" on the 45% windshield tint since it's illegal and just attracts negative attention. I suggest a nice set of polarized sunglasses instead.

Thanks! That helps a lot. I'll do 20 for sure on the back. Might say heck with it and do 20 on all sides and back, but for the windshield.....a 45 is a must. i LOVE how it looks with a slight tint on it. Dont really attract attention if its light. Its dark from far away, but if you want up on it, it dont even look tinted. This will be my 3rd windshield tinted too. As for it being illegal, my 5% on my last car was WAY more obvious than a 45% windshield! LOL

CHP-Frequently Asked Questions of the Highway Patrol

Can I put after-market tinting on the windows of my vehicle?
The main requirements for legal window tinting in California are:

  1. The windshield and front driver's side and passenger's side windows cannot receive any aftermarket tinting.
  2. If the rear window of a vehicle is tinted, the vehicle must have outside rearview mirrors on both sides.
The law prohibits any person from driving any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows, with certain limited exceptions.
However, legislation signed into law effective January 1, 1999, exempts from the above prohibition specified clear, colorless, and transparent material that is installed, affixed, or applied to the front driver and passenger side windows for the specific purpose of reducing ultraviolet rays. If, as, or when this material becomes torn, bubbled or otherwise worn, it must be removed or replaced.
It's been like that forever. Well, 17 years ago the guy who did the tint on my former car would not do the driver and passenger windows. He did put a strip of tint where the sun visors are, that really DID help for that awful gap where the rear view mirror is that is blinding.

Unless one is parking outside, in the sun, all the time, in a hot area, I don't see a reason for the tint. It was much hotter where I lived, and I did park outside.

Here in San Francisco near the coast, we have no sun. And I have overhead protection from rain and sun when it appears. I don't think I'll tint this time around.

I have been looking into moving, though. To a hotter, sunnier area. And that might mean I will look into tint in the future!

One guy on our street has tint so dark I figure he must be parking on the sun itself. I don't understand how he can even SEE out of the windows. And I shudder to think of how much he would be sued for, if he caused an accident with that tint on.
