Generic plastic clicking sound/feeling when shifting

Hey guys, quick question. I love my fit but one thing that has really been annoying me is the plastic'y clicking sound/feeling from the shifter every time I switch gears. If i try to make a quick shift you can hear/feel it pretty good, but if I shift very slowly and carefully it will be silent without much of a click feeling. I dont know much about whats under the boot but it def just feels like there is some plastic hitting when I shift that's causing this.

is this something normal? is this something Im being to nit-picky about or what? I have never had this happen in any MT car I have ever owned though. Just thought I would see what you guys have to say about it.

I've noticed this too. I heard something about the hydraulic clutch has some sort of restricted flow and causes a delay. I've just learned to delay shifting by a fraction of a second.

I think he means there is a sound while moving the shift lever, which has nothing to do with how the clutch engages.

I have a feeling the plasticky sound/feel comes from the rubber bushings used to mount the shift plate to the chassis. H-fit (H-Fit.com ...Products for your GD3 / GD4 / GE8 Honda Fit...) sells a metal bushing kit designed to tighten up the shifts. Honda Tuning Mag gives the kit a good review. I haven't tried it myself.

I agree though, it's hard to shift quickly in the Fit. I feel like I'm going to break the whole shift mechanism when I do it.

I've noticed the same thing. I've seen it described as having the feel of a video game console shifter, and that's about right. The shifter is my least favorite thing about my Fit--the feel isn't quite right, and the throws seem a little too long for quick shifting.

I ordered the H-fit hard bushings. Hopefully they tighten up the shifts
