Fit v. Yaris

I know this isn't a direct comparison, but I was researching exhausts and this came up on google, idk why. What do you guys think?

it starts to get better as you get further down the page.

I think there is already a massive thread on this topic, however might be a good time to redirect this thread to be the battle of the 09's

Interesting, lets make a Honda version of the Smart car  Yah, that will sell like hot cakes. Props to Honda for not taking this advice and producing a useful versatile car that can still kick the ass of any comparable Toyota.... 2 doors or more!

Eh, not a huge fan of the Yaris. That's actually what I was driving before I bought the fit. It was a loaner. I mean, yeah, it's a nice car, but it's light. There were days I was driving highway speeds in 20 mph wind and I thought I was going to get tossed off the road. The Fit doesn't have that effect, at least not what I've noticed

I'm not a fan of the Yaris, but the 5-door hatch for 09 is a lot more attractive and versatile than the current 3-door. More standard safety features next year, too.

I think the five door Yaris is really ugly. Just like the three door with rear doors thrown on. Ugh.

I don't like the look of any body style Yaris. Also, while I wouldn't mind a center instrument panel, theirs (unlike my old Saturn ION) is not canted towards the driver. Besides, we get more standard features! :)

Well i did test drive the Yaris as well as an 1st gen XB, Kia Rio, VW Rabbit, & a Nissan Versa. Well the thing about the yaris was that it was cheap, & I was sure that it wasa good car, but I wanted a 5 door hatchback & it was way too tiny. Then the 1st Gen XB I liked but they quit making them at the time I was gonna make my purchase, & i wasn't really all that crazy about the 2nd gen Xb. The Rabbit was kinda cool, but mileage was the problem & I was actually kinda wary of VW period. Then there was the Kia Rio, which it was jsut okay. At least it didn't feel so cheap this time, but still meh. Then there was the Versa. I liked its size & everything, but I didn't like the intelligent key. It took me 15 minutes to try to start the car because of it. So I decided to go with the Fit. The rest is history.....

I dismissed the Yaris in about 30 seconds. No MT available on the 5 door.

As for the acceleration thing, I could have sworn that the Yaris, at least the '07's, was faster than the '07 Fits, but does .xx seconds really matter? Anywho, I've never been in a Fit, but I'm sure the interior finish is better than the Yaris. I'll have to take a look at Soul Brother's Fit one of these days when I get the chance to. I don't think it's fair to compare the 3-door Yaris to the Fit, but the 5-door Yaris to the Fit would be better. I wouldn't even compare the sedan to the Fit unless Honda brings over the City. I wouldn't even compare the sedan to the LB. Even though I own a Yaris, if I had to choose between the 5-door and the Fit (first gen), I would have to take the Fit simply because Toyota does not offer a manual transmission for the 5-door. That's the dumbest crap ever.

Both cars are great, and both have their ups and downs. You can go either way, and still get a reputable and reliable car.

If you're into modding your car off the bat and off the shelves, get a Fit. So far, us Yaris folks does not have a huge aftermarket support as of right now. If you want something cheap and can get your 48 mpg (as I have done a few tanks on), get a base 3-door Yaris LB. If you need a trunk and still carpool people around, get a Yaris sedan.

Test drive the two and there is really no comparison between the Fit and the Yaris. I actually started off my car search with the Yaris in the lead because of the low price. Once you start adding on "normal" options that were standard on a Fit Sport, the prices were equal but the competition wasn't as I easily went with the Fit.
