In a thread I was reading earlier today (don't remember the exact name or date that it took place) it was mentioned that there are no CARB legal intakes for the Fit. Does this still hold true? I know JR is working on getting their SC CARB legal but know of no one or anything else.
True they may not mind now but if your air sensor goes out on your intake they will NOT cover it! CARB LEGAL is something different where if you get pulled over by a police officer he cannot write you a ticket for the CAI or make you remove your intake at least in California.
As far as Injen, I DO NOT think they are carb legal.
CARB Exempt status of intake systems will be much more important when CA owned Fits hit 5 years of age, at which time smog certification will be required to get your new registration tags. Smog test stations can and will refuse the test and certification to the DMV if the intake is not stock and there is no CARB Exempt sticker. If you (Ca Fits) do not have the CARB sticker for your intake, you will need to replace the stock intake to get a smog check. As a CA Fit owner previously posted, with the Fujita SRI (non-CARB exempt) intake, you also get a free duffel bag- presumably to store your stock intake parts in until you need to put them back on the engine for a smog test.
So me running a Fujita SRI is just as (il)legal as running a custom built intake? To the drawing board!!
Yes- exactly. PM member "ciburri" and ask him about the custom intake that he cobbled together from parts bought at "Autozone". His intake works as well as the Injen and AEM systems in our local group.
