CARB Legal Cold Air Intake?

Are there any CARB legal cold air intakes on the market, or close to being on the market. The fujita looks nice, but doesnt mention if it is CARB legal.

No, the Fit is way too new to have a CARB approved intake out for it, most intakes arent CARB approved anyway. The only intake makers who care about CARB approval is AEM so when AEM comes out with a CAI or Short Ram intake for the Fit, you can be pretty sure that its a CARB pending intake and should be approved in a few months after submission.

It might be legal in the other 49 states but Cali is unique in that for a performance part to be legal it either needs to come from the factory that way or if it is an aftermarket performance part it has to be approved by CARB to pass visual inspection when Smog time comes around, if there is no CARB approval sticker or badge on the part with the corresponding CARB approval number, the Smog inspector will fail you automatically before even running the actual emissions test. And I can assure you that the Fujita isnt CARB approved or pending approval as submitting a product for approval by CARB is an expensive process which is why the majority of companies dont do it unless they got alot of money like AEM.

Ill just get the fujita for now, and go for an AEM in about a year or so. I doubt I will ever be pulled over for a fix-it-ticket, and a new car doesnt have to be smogged for a few years IIRC.

AEM should have something out for the Fit before year end I believe after talking to them a few weeks back so if you can wait a few more months, im sure you'll be much happier with a AEM product aside from the CARB issue.

I was not super-worried, just curious if there was another intake out there. Worst that can happen with an "illegal" intake is a fix it ticket.........

New cars in California dont need to perform any smog testing till the 5th or 6th year of the car's age so since the Fit is a 07 model, you dont have to worry about smog testing till at least 2011 or 2012 so you can mod the car with anything you want till then as long as you dont get pulled over. The only time CARB plays a role in modding in CA is when your going in for smog or you get pulled over and a cop tells you to pop your hood to inspect your motor. If he says your aftermarket parts dont have CARB stickers/badges on them then your screwed.

yeah, the new Fujita CAI doesn't come with a CARB sticker. I really dont mind because, like JDMGD3 said, you dont even have to worry about smog til the 5th or 6th year. I personally dont think the Fit is really gonna be pulling attention that much anyway.
