Vin Number
Hey whats up
Ive been patiently waiting to get my NHBP 5MT sport. (since late nov)
They finally gave me the vin number, but I want to make sure he didnt give me some bogus number from some other car just to shut me up.
I know its a fit for it has "gd3" in the beginning of it.
For the rest of the vin is there number code saying the color or if its manual trans and or base or sport???
thanks for your input!!
cant wait to get it!

Yes.
All fits start with "JHM" (World manufacturer number),
Then
"GD" says its a fit
Then the engine (one digit)
1: 1.3 L L13A engine 2WD
2: 1.3 L L13A engine 4WD (Japan only)
3: 1.5 L L15A engine 2WD
4: 1.5 L L15A engine 4WD (Japan only)
5: 1.2 L L12A engine 2WD (Europe only)
Then single digit for tranny
8 for auto, 7 for manual
Then Single digit for body
6 For sport 4 for base
then the control number (one digit),
then the year (one digit),
Then plant number (one digit)
C Sayama, Saitama, Japan
S Suzuka, Japan
T Utsunomiya, Tochigi, Japan
then sequential production number (6 digits)

No doubt about that, but the additional links will help someone else around the globe.
Great tool, unfortunately it seams not to work correctly for the Jazz in Europe!
(no engine and wrong gear specification)

The Jazz is a little different than the Fit on the VIN. I am not too sure how they work

Hey WhatFreshHell
Two questions:
1) Is there any way (that you know of) to determine exactly the date of production?
2) Does your forum name come from a song, or a poem, maybe? I recognize the term but can't pull it out of my memory locker.
Thanks,
Joe

It is a reference to Dorothy Parker as well as a song. You probably heard of Dorothy Parker, but I doubt you know the song

hello SteelDog
Acording the VIN Number and the invoice it says 2002
all codes are OK
Japan Manufactured: JHM
FIT model: GD1
Manual Transmission: 7
but the body i think this is a middle between the Sport and Base
it has alloy rims 14 , air bags for driver and passenger (no courtain), electrics mirrors, keyless entry system, sterring wheel adjustable on height, Radio CD (i installed a Cord for Aux entry )
I think it is one of the first version of honda FIT
and my forum name come from my first name: Jaime and last name: Bolaņos
