needless to say that i was pretty mad. i wonder what could have hit the hood that hard to make that size of a dent and scratch the paint like that?
I took it to the guy that has done body for me in the past, and he wanted 315 dollars to fix it. thats almost a whole car payment!!!! i'm going to tomorrrow to see if anyone is going to be cheaper.

my wife backed into a car and scratched the bumper and they want 200 for that so i dont think your price is too bad considering the damage

I had my whole bumper replaced, and color matched for 500$.... >.>

purchased the new bumper for 140$, plus 350$ for the paintjob... it looks awesome.

Will be doing more business with them. Look at the price to just replace the hood, maybe someone would sell you theirs after they have purchased their CF hoods on the BOM fits.

My guess is that it was a bear. Western NC has plenty of black bears, and they are wicked strong. Nothing else out in the woods could have done that, except maybe some human vandal. Did you hear anything in the night?

In any case, sorry it happened. It must be a right royal pain to have something like that happen to your Fit.

Sorry to hear about that dent, its a nasty one and right where it stands out the most...

Brian I feel your pain brother. I got a nice chunk of paint taken out of my hood just after a week of owning my new Fit. A nice big rock flew right at me on the freeway and I couldn't get out of the way fast enough. I have the same color too, so I definitely feel your pain on how visible it is. I'm also paying about what you are per month, and the body shop where I usually go wants $700 to fill it, wet sand it, and possibly repaint it. A buddy of mine who is going to school for body repair is going to try and work some magic on it later on this month in SoCal when the wife and I head down for a visit. I touched it up with the OEM paint stick for now, but it still looks horrible.

I'm wondering what a brand new hood in BOM would cost to just order and replace ourselves? It's only four bolts to remove it, and might be a lot cheaper too. If your Fit is still fairly new, you won't have any problems color matching with a new hood or repaint.

Best of luck man, I hope all goes well and it can be fixed

DAN

body parts do not come painted, with the exception of mirrors and handles so you would have to get a new hood painted
