08 sport fit towing

I'm going on a camping trip and we have quite few things to bring, about 6 hour drive as well. I'm not sure how much weight but its it cant be more than 300lbs. I want to get hitch installed and tow a small trailer with all the gear. Also will have two kayaks on my roof which I've done plenty of times. I'm just not sure if the car will be able to handle it? also with sports bumpers will the back bumper have to be cut for the hitch connection to come through?

Curt makes a great tow receiver that bolt to the chassis of the car without any new holes or modifications - it takes the place of the rear jackpoint thingy. I only ever use mine for a bike rack, but there is a guy out there towing a lightweight travel trailer with his Fit, though he has air shocks.

Stay well within the confines of the Class I tow rating (150 pound tongue weight, 1500 pounds tow weight), drive accordingly, and you should be fine.
