2007 Fit Sport Won't Start? Starter or electical issue?

Hi there,

Roughly a month ago I was driving home and my car died on the freeway. Ended up pulling over and it was late at night so no traffic either. Anyways. Got it towed home and what happens when I try to start it is that the lights on the dash will come on but when I turn the key on, the lights and I guess battery die and that's it. Everyone I've talked to says it's the starter. As I'm looking more into it, that's seems to be the case or something involving the starter. I had an oil change roughly the month before that. Perhaps something happened when I took it in that time? The battery also died while idling in the driveway so I ended up replacing the battery as well. Anyways. If anyone has any idea of what's going on I would certainly appreciate the help as I am not a car guy at all but I absolutely love my Fit! Here's a video of what happens for reference:

Need to have someone hook up voltmeter to the battery posts and check the voltage or use known good battery
If still does not crank remove battery and verify that the engine rotates (not seized)

Bad starter wouldn't cause it to die on the highway - it could be the alternator, not charging the battery. Enough power to light up the dash, but not enough to crank the engine over.

^agree with what he said, alternator not charging the battery --> battery drains while driving --> no ignition --> engine dies
if the lights go out when trying to start the car, it's an electrical issue and not the starter
unfortunately, your battery was probably fine and didn't need replacement (unless it was old and you were going to replace it anyway)

Not sure if topic starter cares about this any more
