2008 Honda Fit Sport 5 sp Manual Transmission issues
Posting some follow up info on my 2008 Honda Fit with the 5 speed manual. I just had difficulty shifting on the way home from the grocery store. The car was in the shop yesterday, and technician I got the estimate from said the mechanic was able to get it into gear by pumping the clutch; and the garage has concluded that the master and the slave cylinder need to be replaced. Price quote $830. I was not able to learn if the mechanic pumped the clutch with the car running or with the engine off. Thoughts?
No. They have not bled the system yet. Can I do that myself? I got a quote from another garage here in Arlington, VA for $650, of which $320 is parts. I did go on Amazon.com and found a slave cylinder for $30. Do you know of anyone in Arlington, Va or nearby who can do this cheaper?
Thanks. A local garage here said to replace the system. It seems to be acting up more and more. I think $830 might be a little high for a replacement of the master and slave. Another garage quoted me $350 for the parts. I found a master and a slave on Autozone for around $120.00 There is a local gas station/garage here in Arlington, VA that has a good reputation with the locals. Wondering if its a relatively simple task to replace the master and slave? I did not ask any of the shops I took it too so far to look into bleeding the system. I am not sure I can figure out how to do it myself.
Thanks. One local mobile mechanic will do it for $150 labor. He wants me to order the parts. Autozone has both for a reasonable price and has the parts in stock. I am was also thinking of trying NAPA or similar. If I went that route, suggestion on a source for the parts?
