Cylinder misfire, replaced a lot, light still flashes

Hello fellow Fit freaks. First of all, I am from The Netherlands so English is not my first language. Maybe my sentences can be a bit dodgy

Since 3 months I drive a 2005 Jazz 1.2 liter engine. Ofcourse I have the check engine light, but the solution is not as simple as replacing the coils I'm affraid. The problem is, sometimes cylinder 1 and 4 have a misfire and sometimes cylinder 2 and 3 give a misfire. If I clear the code, the light will be gone for 50 - 1000 kilometres. What I or my mechanic have done so far:

- replaced all 8 coils. Not with Hitashi's but with German made ones (I replaced them in Germany on the way to Italy). They were not cheap, about 60 dollar each.
- replaced 8 spark plugs (the factory NGK ones)
- cleared EGR valve
- replaced valve cover sensor? Something like that.. (it can give cylinder 1 misfire code)
- narrowed spark plug gap to 0,6 mm (0,0063 inch?)
- adjusted the valves

But the light sometimes still flashes. And it changes from cylinder 1 and 4 to 2 and 3. Do you experts have any idea what could be the problem? The CPU? I'm really puzzled..

Thanks!

Maybe low fuel pressure? Cylinder compression? You may not get a lot of help on this forum - most Fit owners here have the 1.5 VTEC engine with four spark plugs.

Thank's for your reply. A mechanic could check the fuel pressure, that has crossed my mind. I thought maybe the engine of American Fit's are much the same as our European ones, dispite your engines are bigger. But maybe they are very different haha.

Could the problem be with the ECU? I'd definitely have a mechanic check it up

Sounds like your catalyst is blocked.
Have you solved the problem???

Haven’t solved it yet. The problem seems to occur three times in a row and then when I delete the code, it is gone for about 600/700 miles or so. Then it acts up again.

I will bring it to a mechanic again, but the car cost me about 1000 euro’s recently trying to fix the problem. So I must figure out some things first, like trying another mechanic. If I learn more, I will update this post 😃

hi, i had the same problem, cleane the EGR with egr spray or brake disk cleaner, let it soak for 10 min, be sure to pull the piston out and sprayit. if it still has the error, chek the hose that starts at cylinder 2 for cracks.
i would also suggest you do a valve check, when i did mine a discovered that the 2nd cylinder outlet was clogged up
