Operating Temperature

Hi. I am just curious about the operating temp of a 08 Fit. I bought a Bluetooth obd readers so I could keen an eye in the temp along with other things and it seems to be running hotter the last few weeks or so. When cruising it stays around 176-180F but when driving in stop and go traffics its around 212f. The fan will kick in and it will lower it. Does this seem normal? The coolant level is good. Thanks.

Mine almost always reads 179°F.

On an average day, mine will read 179°F-193°F. Mine will touch 212°F on occasion, when going uphill, and/or going through heavy traffic, especially during Summer months.
The cooling fan kicks on when temps exceed 212°F. That’s why you top out at 212°F.
On one very rare occasion I’ve seen mine touch 238°F when charging uphill, on a hot day. I later discovered that I had a coolant line leak.
Check your coolant expansion tank supply, it may be borderline low, or even empty like mine was.
The Internet says 195°F-220°F is normal operating temperature, your temperature readings seem to be okay!
