Creaking steering only when turning left

Hi guys,

I've recently notice a creaking noise from the front right of my right hand drive 2005 Honda Jazz. I have had a friend sit in the vehicle and move the steering wheel from side to side while I felt suspension and steering components, and I felt it most strongly in the steering arm. It only makes this creak when turning left. Turning right makes no noise at all. If the car is off (and therefore the power steering would be off too) and I turn the wheel it doesn't make the noise. I've had each side jacked up in turn and while it doesn't creak with both wheels off the ground, if either one is on the ground it will start creaking again.

This leads me to believe the steering rack, or electric power steering motor has gone bad (I don't know how they go together or if they're one unit or anything). Is there anything I can try to either confirm it is definitely the rack, or to stop the creaking? Any ideas or info at all would be much appreciated!

Cheers!
