Another Immobilizer Question (antenna ring)
A couple of months back a would-be thief attempted to steal my 2007 base model Fit (manual transmission) without success and left me with a torn-up ignition system. The thief broke the ignition lock and the immobilizer antenna ring. I'm handy enough and can remove the broken parts and replace with new or used parts. I've seen quite a few used immo antenna rings on eBay but none of them have the exact part numbers as the original in my car.
My question is... Is it easier to buy a new ignition switch or can I get by just replacing the immo antenna ring and ignition lock if I can find used versions with the same part number?
From what I've gathered on the forums the dealership or a locksmith will have to program the new antenna ring/key to the ECU no matter what.
