Exclamation Strange noise when braking to a stop or releasing brakes. 2008 1st gen CVT.

Hi everyone,

I recently got my 2008 1st gen Fit, with an automatic CVT transmission. The car is in pristine condition, with low mileage (90.000 km / 56.000 miles) and very well taken care of, but I am worried about a noise the car makes when coming to a stop or when releasing brakes.

More specifically, this noise is like a deep, friction sound, that happens when you gently brake to a full stop, or when releasing brakes gently. It does not happen when braking or releasing brakes abruptly, and it only happens when in R, D, S and L gears. If you are driving at, say 40 km/h, then release the throttle and shift to N, there will be absolutely no sound when braking.

I asked the seller about this noise and he told me it was normal in this generation of CVT cars. Surely enough, the first thing I did was take the car to an official Honda servicing center (since I have a warranty), and the mechanics told me it was, in fact, normal due to brake and clutch coordination.

This is the sound the car makes:
Maybe the video makes it sound a little bit louder, but you can definitely hear the noise even with music playing on the radio.

Does anyone else have this issue with their 1st gen CVTs?

Thanks in advance!
