08 Fit Sport overheating
08 Fit Sport overheating
Hello!
I have 08 Fit Sport with 240k miles on it but usually runs well. It started getting a high temperature light and when I checked it out I noticed the fans that cool down the radiator are not turning on even though the high temperature sensor is flashing. If I turn on the A/C those fans do turn on and it helps if I run the air all the way on hot. I have already replaced ECT 2 and was still getting the high temperature light and no fan action. It seems running with the A/C on high heat could get me a few miles away with no high temp light while it was a cold day, but those fans seem to only cycle on and off and isn't enough to cool the radiator. The coolant level looks fine. I started checking some of the electrical out, but don't know too much. I tried switching a relay for the horn with ones for the fans, but didn't seem to work. I also checked the 7.5A fuse for that relay on the inside of the car, but it looked okay. Appreciate any advice on what to check next.

I've had the same on other vehicles. The culprit was a rabbit chewing up my wires from underneath the car. The fan wires were right inside of the splash guard easy for the rabbit to access. Also the engine was nice and warm and inviting.
If you park it outside I would check for evidence of rodents. Get underneath the car and check the wires that are going to the fans. Then, check all the fuses.
Beyond that, it's possible that the motors have kicked the bucket or there is a more extensive issue. Best luck.
