Exclamation HELP! Error code P1890

Hey everyone,

I'm a bit stuck here and would love some help if anyone knows anything

I have a 2006 Honda Fit 175,000km (yes I know metric system, about 110,000 miles I believe). All of a sudden it has started driving very poorly.
It struggles to accelerate, and when it does it is slow and the rpm seems quite high. At one point it basically died on me going up a hill and the D light started flashing.
I scanned it myself and it came up with the error code p1890 Transmission 4WD Mode Select Return Input Circuit Failure Shift Control System.
Currently, the D light is not flashing and no engine light warning, just that error code from my scan.

Side note - it used to do that shudder thing but i seemed to treat it relatively well with the XADO Revitalizant EX120. However the current issues seems much worse.

Does anyone know what to do/how to fix it? Seems like some sort of transmission issue but I don't know anything more than that!

Would very much appreciate your thoughts

Hmm, that sounds potentially serious. Note that on the Fit, the P1890 is the more generic "Problem in shift control system". There's a troubleshooting guide here; if you're really lucky, it might just be a sensor, but you might well be looking at a replacement valve body or even the entire transmission, unfortunately.

Of course, do check the CVT fluid level and the battery health first. Good luck!
