Replacement Axles
Replacement Axles
Lots of options out there for replacement axles from O'Rileys, Autozone, Rock Auto, Honda SO who has used what and any issues with quality?
Honda wants $280 each which seems crazy high but I understand the quality aspect but when there are $70 options there's gotta be someone out there using them.
What are you guys using?
TIA
I have a 2008 Honda Fit Sport w/ Automatic

I am also in the process of changing out the axles for my GD.
If you want to avoid having vibration issues while driving, it is best to stay away from aftermarket axles. They don’t include the OE rubber vibration dampener.
As part of a recall campaign, Honda has released an updated driveshaft for the GD and GE platforms.
For the GD, the part numbers are:
06440-SLN-305 (passenger side cv axle)
06440-SLN-306 (driver side cv axle)
hondapartsnow.com sells the 305 axle for $145.57 and the 306 axle for $128.03 (not including shipping).
Additionally, Honda Service Bulletin 21-042 has valuable information regarding the process by which to change out the axles with the updated design ones.

I have the updated axles in my possession and intend to install them in the GD this weekend…

My Fit has been VERY reliable over the last 16 years, bought new, one owner so I'm pretty new to the "fixing" part of ownership with only a few items needed. A shift solenoid, idler pulley and a hub/bearing for broken lug studs. Had the dealer do the valve adjustment the first 100,000 miles but I will probable give it a go this time around.
I had to check my VIN for the GD3 code to understand the 'lingo" around this page but now I get it...
Thanks for the info on part numbers you listed CRAZY that these show up on Hondapartsnow and that website says they are Honda parts with Honda warranty but on the "HONDA" parts these parts as:SHAFT ASSY,L DRIVPart Number: 44306-SLN-305 MSRP Price : $809.98 HOW in the world are they selling at $129?
I'm down with that savings!!!
Good luck with your axle changes seems pretty straight forward. look forward to hearing how it goes for you..

The only curveball I encountered was the outer CV joint splines not going in directly with the hub.
The solution was to use a file and patiently filing down each spline groove. Then, using a rubber mallet the hub was lightly hammered until the axle nut could be inserted to pull the outer CV in all the way.
All purpose grease was also used to help with getting the outer CV joint inside the hub.
