Tailgate sensor not sensing open boot

Hi fit freaks,

Lately I have noticed that my 2006 jazz has not been recognising my boot opening. I unlock it with the remote (all doors unlock) open the boot and after a few moments the central locking will automatically lock the doors (unless I have open a one of the normal doors). I have noted that the door open indicator light on the driver panel no longer illuminates when the boot is open.

My guess is that the tailgate opening sensor is not working and I wanted to check if anybody else had similar problems and could offer a solution.

I am thinking that changing the tailgate mechanism will solve the problem but I would like to know if there are any suggestions you may have.

Also my tailgate opens and closes fine - there do not seem to be any mechanical problems with it hence my hesitation to replace it if the issue is sensor related.

Cheers

Phil
