Key wont go into ignition
all of a sudden i cant start the car with the key and the key only goes in halfway, the car is a 2008 honda fit too old for a thousand dollar fix is there a way to bypass the switch and i can still start the car and drive it, it only needs to last till the end of the year.
Based on my extensive car theft experience (= watching too many movies) all you have to do to start a car without a key is reach under the dash, pull out two wires, and touch them together. What could be easier than that?
On a more serious note:
1) Do you have more than one key?
2) Can you confirm that your key or keys are not bent or otherwise damaged? If so, you might be able to gently straighten it and get it to work.
3) Will your key or keys insert and turn the door lock?
4) Can you confirm that nothing is jammed/stuck in the key cylinder?
If your key is straight/undamaged and there's nothing in the key cylinder I don't know why the key won't insert. At that step I might consult with a locksmith who should be experienced with diagnosing and solving these sorts of problems.
